INTRODUCTION

The Global Partnerships Forum, in collaboration with Deakin University Australia, and The Geneva Group, Ltd., has created a unique executive learning program for women in senior leadership positions – an intimate forum for developing strategies for success; navigating untapped opportunities for breaking the glass ceiling; and using a peer-to-peer platform for staying at the top.

BACKGROUND

In an era where more women are taking on senior management and leadership positions in governments, international organizations, private sector and civil society, it is clear that new thinking and new strategies have to be applied to help balance the multiple demands between their personal and professional lives. This course is designed to ensure that women not only succeed, but also serve as role models for others within their organizations as well as for the new generation of women entrepreneurs.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Women in Leadership Clinic is a 2-day forum, bringing together a select group of accomplished executives from across disciplines and cultures, to share ideas and expertise, and to benefit from the rich experience of other successful leaders and mentors.

The program is designed to provide participants unique insight on leveraging their, often under-utilized, talents to transform themselves into exceptional trailblazers. Attendees will also learn techniques for building winning partnerships that enhance their business models.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Throughout the two days, course organizers will encourage regular participant self-assessment.

The course, which is highly interactive, is designed to further develop personal leadership skills and build renewed confidence to enable participants develop a competitive edge. Some of the elements that will be covered, include:

  • View your potential in terms of your professional goals and also of your organization
  • Broaden your understanding of the current landscape of challenges and opportunities for women in leadership positions
  • Focus on leadership as being gender neutral; cultivate techniques to ignore the noise about perceived gender differences
  • Strengthen strategies for leading people and managing resources; lead with confidence
  • Refine and recognize personal leadership qualities and skills; embrace the opportunity to be a role-model
  • Highlight the unique value proposition of women leaders and celebrate diverse viewpoints, cultures, and attitudes, by building consensus, without compromising on leadership
  • Benefit from the experience of visionary leaders by dissecting lessons learned and success stories
  • Expand your professional network of colleagues and resources by engaging in a valuable networking platform, and connect with leading thinkers who could be potential mentors, investors or partners

COURSE OUTLINE

Topics to be covered will include the following:

  • Creative approaches to work/life balance, including new trends
  • Packaging the personal vision into a cutting-edge brand, including: a communications strategy, targeted marketing and social media outreach for product and service offerings
  • Identifying business prospects, and conducting market research
  • Developing a clear strategy and a compelling business plan
  • Creating the right stewardship, corporate governance and legal framework
  • Building a strong management team, from recruitment to retention
  • Utilizing public service as an avenue for building new leadership and communication skills
  • Expanding personal profile through Board engagement

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is intended for women in senior management and leadership positions such as, Chief Operating Officers, Senior Vice Presidents, Heads of Divisions/Branches, as well as young emerging entrepreneurs who are interested in starting a new business venture.

Participants will attend Friday from 9:30am-5:30pm and on Saturday from 9:30am to 4:00pm.

ENROLLMENT

Enrollment is limited to 20 participants, to enable close interaction with course leaders and fellow participants. For applications that exceed the enrollment maximum, unsuccessful applicants will be given priority for the next course.
