Global Partnerships Institute

About the Global Partnerships Institute

Building effective partnerships is both an art and a practice – and like any practice, it benefits from good mentorship, shared experience, and structured learning.

The Global Partnerships Institute (GPI) was created to offer exactly that. Drawing on the Global Partnerships Forum’s long experience working at the intersection of diplomacy, development, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, GPI provides learning programs for students, young professionals, universities, and organizations who want to deepen their understanding of how partnerships work and how to make them work better.

Our programs are practical, accessible, and grounded in the real challenges of building alliances across sectors and borders. We welcome participants at every stage of their journey, whether they are encountering the multilateral system for the first time, or looking to sharpen skills they have been developing for years.

Who Our Programs Are For

Students and Young Professionals Those beginning their careers who want to understand how the UN system works, how global policy is shaped, and how to find their place in the world of diplomacy, development, and social enterprise.

Corporate and Institutional Partners Organizations looking to build their teams’ capacity for multi-stakeholder engagement, deepen their understanding of the multilateral landscape, or develop a more strategic approach to partnership.

Universities and Academic Institutions Academic partners seeking to offer students a practical, New York-based learning experience at the intersection of diplomacy and sustainable development.

Our Programs

UN 101: Understanding the Multilateral System

The United Nations touches almost every aspect of global life, yet for many people, how it actually works remains something of a mystery. UN 101 is a practical, accessible introduction to the UN system: its structures, its processes, the role of Member States and civil society, and how the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is being translated into action.

Delivered in New York, with the option of sessions at UN headquarters, the course gives participants a clear and grounded understanding of the multilateral world and their potential place within it.

Available as a standalone course, a university module, or a tailored institutional program.

Diplomacy and Partnership Development

This program explores the practice of building partnerships at the international level – how trust is established across sectors and cultures, how multi-stakeholder initiatives are designed and sustained, and what distinguishes alliances that deliver from those that do not. It draws on case studies and practitioner experience from across GPF’s network, and gives participants both conceptual frameworks and practical tools they can apply in their own work.

Available as a short course, an executive program, or a tailored organizational offering.Find Out More

Youth and University Programs

GPF has long believed that the next generation of partnership-builders deserves early exposure to the multilateral world. Our youth programs offer students an engaging introduction – combining expert talks, site visits, simulations, and peer learning, designed to open doors and spark ideas.

For university partners, we offer co-designed programs that can be integrated into existing curricula or run as standalone intensives.

Available for undergraduate and graduate students, and youth leadership initiatives.Find Out More

Entrepreneurship Clinics

Our Entrepreneurship Clinics offer aspiring social entrepreneurs a structured space to develop their ideas – exploring how to build sustainable business models, how the multilateral system can support social enterprise, and how to connect with the networks and resources needed to grow.

These are hands-on sessions, designed around participation and practical problem-solving rather than passive learning.

Available as standalone clinics, university modules, or corporate innovation programs.Find Out More
